Before I start sharing my MoCCA purchases I had to share this sweet children’s book. My friend Lorena, also know as Petit Collage, has both written and illustrated it! I am always impressed by her. It’s the story of a cat, Lulu, and dog, Alex, who are best of friends but almost like doing completely different things. Alex worries that since they might be opposites they can’t be best friends but by the end we learn they do like some of the same things. And liking different things helps them have the most fun when they are together. It’s an adorable story with super adorable characters. I love the thick wavering lines the characters are drawn with and the texture Lorena added to each illustration. It’s hard to see in these photos but sections of the illustrations are filled with lots of subtle handdrawn patterns and real textures. The boat that they play in at the end is colored with real cardboard and the sail is made of different fabrics. Lorena mentioned this is the first in a series she’s doing so I can’t wait to see the next one. It’s published in the UK but you can get a copy here or here.
