Book By Its Cover

Giovanna Zoboli, Joanna Concejo

Italians out there- some help! Can anyone who has this book tell me more about what the text is like inside? I have translated a small description of the book which says it is about someone with a deaf father who “unable to think of the reality outside of himself, opposes the ability to accommodate the minimum movement by which manifests the mystery of existence.” Wow. Google translate might be messing this up or this book is a very deep children’s book. Either way the illustrations by Joanna Concejo are not to be missed. They are gorgeous! Mostly pencil with small additions of color and very surreal in subject matter. The imagery in the book focuses mostly around feet and shoes and butterflies and so I wonder how poetic the story might be. There is also a nice light mix of lined and graph paper textures throughout as well. I have put a couple extra photos below. This is another beauty from the publisher Topipittori who also sent me this and this book. Seems like they only publish the best looking stuff!

My 2 cents of wisdom.
The English language section of Topipittori’s website is not updated often: at least eight new titles are missing. (Shame on them).
In their “Catalogue number 4. Foreign rights list for year 2009″ they write:
«Where do angels live? Some people think they live up in Christmas trees among the sparkling lights and colorful balls, or inside shop windows to illuminate the most expensive celebration of the year. Others think they simply inhabit the mystery and therefore they could be anywhere, for example, even on a balcony of a building at
the most remote city in the world. Maybe an angel arrives when you feel a small empty space inside you that nourishes itself upon darkness, silence and awe. This is exactly what happens to the main character of this story who, in the “deaf” presence of his father
- a man who is unable to feel beyond himself
- opposes the tiniest signs within which
the mysteries of existence show themselves and experiences his relationship with the
other through vivid and spontaneous feelings
of empathy.
Typography reveals the text is a poem.
