This is my favorite (and probably the most famous) of all the Bruno Munari children’s books I’ve seen, but I certainly haven’t seen them all. According to the Italian wikipedia page on him, he’s done forty-three kid’s books not to mention the countless number of design books. I have the english reprint from 1999 and it looks like there were two editions before this one. This book is full of surprises. There’s drawings on black paper, holes punched out of pages, die cuts, layers of vellum pages and a treasure chest you can lift to see it’s contents. The publisher, Corraini Edizioni, can give you more information on his books or you can pick up a copy of this one and his others at Dia Books.
