Illustrator Brian Biggs sent over (thanks Brian!) his adorable book Un Mode De Transport which was published a few years ago by the French publisher Éditions du Rouergue. The book is a series of very clever and funny illustrations about transportation. My favorite page is of characters riding bikes without the bikes. They are floating in silly bike riding positions. I also love the page where a whole crowd of people are trying to wave to the one taxi- because I can relate to a moment like that. But then I also think his chart of a lifetime of transportation is pretty amazing. It starts with a pregnant mother–the mother being your mode of transportation because you are being carried inside of her. It follows through childhood- baby carraige, crawling, bicycle riding. And into adulthood- student driver vehicle, driving with a wife, driving with a family. Finally it ends with old age, driving a big old car as an old man, then a wheelchair, ambulance. It ends pretty sad, but honest, with the last mode of transportation- a hearse. And that’s the last page of the book. ha! Check out more of Brian’s super cute work here. His site has some really fun stuff like a surprisingly entertaining video of his son Wilson riding his bike around the schoolyard- oh to be a kid again! It also has some really charming simple animations to fun music. Check it out here and get the book here. More from Brian coming soon.
