I have a magically self-renewing subscription to Lucky magazine. I do enjoy looking at the clothes even though I occasionally (often) get whipped into an irate frenzy over their “lucky girl’ column about a 24-year-old kindergarten teacher from Ohio who likes to wear her $700 platform stilettos to school because the kids enjoy the bright colors. While fashion can cause some mixed feelings, I do think it’s a good thing to expose budding fashion designers to more than just the Disney princesses as fashion inspiration.
Anyway, for those not familiar with Fifi, she is an illustrated bunny, always dressed in the latest designer fashions. (It is very cost effective to wear illustrated couture.) She has a boyfriend named Sonny Hare and a variety of illustrated friends, adorable merchandise and fashionable collaborations. In this book she shares some of her favorite outfits, style tips, designer interviews, even some family photos from her extensive travels. I kind of wish I was more like Fifi.
So while not technically a children’s book, Fifi Lapin would be a nice gift for kids who like fashion. The book itself is quite fashionable, with gloss UV design elements and neon thread in the binding. You can get a copy here.
