Book By Its Cover

6.22.10
Jon McNaught

This beautiful small graphic novel tells the story of two guys hanging out on a roof and watching the suburban life below. There’s no dialogue but the small stories of what they see are told through sounds: from a tv, dogs barking, slamming doors. The whole comic is created in only three colors, the salmon color glows against the two blues. The cover feels nostalgic making the hardcover book itself is such a nice looking object. Pick up a copy here and see more of the author/artisit Jon McNaught’s work.

I bought a copy of this at the recent graphic fair, Pick Me Up, at Somerset House, London. It reminds me of the King Penguin books of the 40s and 50s that I love and collect. But updated. Lovely.

i’m pleased to see you reviewed this, it’s such a well made little novel. the artist Jon, graduated from my course in Bristol but still helps out with litho printing and also his prints are super nice as well! he’s a really friendly guy too, always willing to help! i’ve always loved the tiny attention detail and the size of his illustrations!
