I found Lilli Carre’s work about two years ago at Quimby’s in Chicago when I was visiting Jenny and Matt. I picked up a copy of Deep Sea Diving and fell in love. Still to this day it is my very favorite comic. It’s the story of a young boy who falls in love with an octopus. It is so touching and remarkably easy to relate to. Also, I love how she draws- especially noses and every blade of grass. Lillie has recently been in the spotlight with her newest comic Tales of Woodsman Pete. A chapter from that made it into The Best American Comics 2006 which she also did the cover for. You can buy all her comics and see some animations she made on her site.
