Book By Its Cover

Chris Appelhans

I was missing last week because I took a trip to Chicago. ALSO gave a talk at the University of Illinois at Champagne/Urbana. While I was visiting, I took the annual hour visit to Quimby’s, my favorite Chicago comic/art book shop. This book stuck out, literally, from the rest. It’s the longest and skinniest hardcover book I’ve ever seen- 16.5 inches by 2.5 inches. Inside is cute wordless comics about a boy and a bear, both named Frank I presume. They are sweet but I’m more impressed by the unique shape of this book and it’s ability to stay intact with such long pages. I’m not sure how this one will fit on the shelf. You can get this book here.
