This bright Finnish comic has the most gorgeous color. The illustrations by Aino Louhi are mostly made of cut paper. The shapes are all collaged and then she has drawn little details, like hair strands, to finish them. The title translates to Happy Sad but the rest of the text I can’t read (although Aino describes the comic as “Tasty full color delight inspired by sticker papers, music, misunderstandment and youth.”) That’s just fine with me because I love just looking at it- some of it has been cut from paper too in pretty script. I found Aino’s “child” with other artist Kaija Papu called Kaino. It’s their collaborative website where they sell their books, cute products and tell a little about themselves- there’s a button that turns everything to English- thank goodness. I love that Kaino’s “ambition has increased like a mothafucka’ and its wild ideas burst from every corner. When Kaino grows up, it wants to be the best. Of all.” The eye candy section is funny photographs to look through. So make sure to check out the site and all the lovely comics they sell right here.
