Book By Its Cover

Fantagraphics

I am really enjoying Fantagraphics newest issue of Mome- their quarterly anthology. It’s always fun to read the short comics each issue but I am particularly enjoying this issue for the introduction to Olivier Schrauwen’s work. It’s quite comical but also really beautiful and appears to have that olden days feel to it. Also in this issue is the continuation to Ray Fenwick’s The Truth Bear, work by Dash Shaw, Paul Hornschemeier, David B., Killoffer and more. Are these quarterlys getting better and better each issue or is it just me? Get yours here.

That cartoon looks so cool! The mood of the pages you show here sort of reminds me of Edward Gorey for some reason.

Fenwick stuff is amazing. I’m always a little let down by Mome…they always have one really great artist and sometimes the rest seems like filler. This looks like a good volume, though.
