This is a book for dog lovers. (That means me. I was always a cat person until I got Rudy and now I baby talk every dog on the street.) It’s a beautifully rendered hand drawn dog walk. Samson, the dog takes us on his walk where we sniff Stella and run in the park. He also relieves himself on a poll. But instead of urine, these dogs pee words. Like graffiti, each dog leaves a message behind for the other dogs. I especially like “free food- 11:00 pm by the dumpster” because I know how Rudy loves to snatch up chicken bones from the street. Or “in heat- 3 year old, female retriever ‘Alexa’. First time.” Illustrator Antje Herzog’s canine world is funny and sweet. The drawings are so meticulous, all made of tiny little lines. I like how many of the compositions are from a dog’s eye level and are slightly askew. I always imagine what the world is like from Rudy’s low point of view.
