Book By Its Cover

The illustrations in this striking picture book/ graphic novel are made with ripped paper. You can see the frayed edges giving an unexpected softness to an otherwise very graphic style. The story of revolution is told in only black and white and hints of red. With almost no words beside an occasional exclamation, a universal story is told of “repression and revolt, but also immutable freedom in the face of tyranny.” You can get a copy of this book here.

I am amazed even just a couple of pages of illustration can tell such a striking story. Beautiful…
