Lilli Carré

In Lilli Carré’s lagoon, a creature sings a beautiful song that everyone is attracted to. Some people even wade through the water as close as they can get to the sound, just their heads above the surface. Others follow the sound into the deep water until they disappear. Lilli uses a lot of sounds and weaves their long word bubbles through many panels of this graphic novel. I’ve always loved her detailed drawing style. Her use of black in this book works so well to highlight the difference between night, those scary waters and day. As in many of Lilli’s works, there’s something deeper than just the story on the surface. Although I really loved this book, Deep Sea Diving will always be my favorite. It struck some chord in me and has got me hooked on Lilli’s work for good. Check out more of it here. Get this book here.

The only problem with this book is that it’s too short. I wanted to keep reading it! I loved it.

The illustrations are amazing and the story is just what I’ve been looking for.
