In honor of Valentine’s Day today I wanted to do a love story and one of my favorites is this Jordan Crane book. Without words, a tale is told of an old man who misses his Eleanor. We see him write letters to her and buy flowers and then he goes to the cemetery to visit her grave. He’s so sad, even kisses her gravestone tear-eyed. Then we see that Eleanor’s ghost is behind him. She tries to reach for him but it just scares him and he runs to his car. Then his car won’t start and as he’s trying to fix it the Eleanor comes again, this time they kiss. Then she reaches inside his heart and then it seems to give him a heart attack, he dies and their spirits get to be happily together again. So that’s my bad narration- it’s much much better told in Jordan’s drawings. Sad in a way but also so so sweet. This comic was nominated for both the Eisner and Ignatz awards. Jordan has a ton of comics besides this one for sale on his site that are all just as good, along with some older weekly comics from all different artists and t-shirts which are all currently sold out. Also he sells big beautiful silkscreen prints- my favorite is still All Wound Up where a girl has wound herself into the window curtains. Maybe that’s how you feel on Valentine’s day. Either way hope everyone enjoys their day!
