As mentioned yesterday, here’s the other book I received in my wonderful surprise package from artist Lena Sjöberg. Again this book is in Swedish so I’m not sure what the stories are about but I still really like the pictures. There seems to be two stories, each in one color, brown and blue. They are told through little blob shaped frames, each one unique and every so often a tiny bit of the picture will break the frame- whether it’s the top of a head or the fin of a fish. I like the graphic style of the drawings in the first story- when two dark shapes overlap they make a white paper shape. The second story is mostly line work which is equally nice and feels much lighter. There are drawings of a funny looking Elvis character and I really am intrigued about what the story of this one is about. (Lena maybe you can tell us??) Again her handwritten text is such a great addition. Learn more about Lena’s work here. Thanks again Lena. We all look forward to your translated versions and the availability of your books in the US.
