I love Kati Rapia’s work (which I had previously seen published by Napa) so I was excited to receive a comic of hers along with a handful of other books from a small publisher in Barcelona called Borobiltxo Libros. They have such a sweet little selection of small books that are nicely printed with adorable illustrations. This is what the founder, Jordi, wrote me “I like publishing artists that I discover and fall in love with, and are not very much known in my country yet. And I try to do it in the nicest way I can.” Kati Rapia was one of those artists and although the text is all in Spanish, I am really enjoying this book. Kati’s drawings are loose lines that give her characters a unique look. She fills in the hair with mess of scribbles and uses flat color to define spaces or highlight elements.
