I realize I have been posting a lot of pattern related books lately. It seems like so many have come out all at once. Which to me isn’t a bad thing- keep them coming! This one has a bunch of my work in it. My pooch Rudy even made it in, bottom right. (That picture was from when she was just a little pup and still makes me smile) This pattern book is slightly more resourceful since not only does it show the pattern alone and the pattern applied to a surface, but it also gives you the CMYK breakdown of every color in every design. I remember them requesting this back when they were putting the book together and how I was slightly annoyed that I had to go back to my designs (some like ten colors) and record the each percentage. But now it seems like such a smart and helpful feature to a book that could otherwise just be eye-candy. Now I can look at a gorgeous Hanna Werning design and get her exact palette. I find it interesting to look at the little swatches of color and then see how much she used each color. The whole book is broken down by color as well. The first chapter is monochromatic designs, then it’s duotone, multicolor and then palettes even beyond that (photographic or gradient designs whose colors you could never count). This book is published in Singapore and I’ve just heard from Beverly Chong at Page One and here is the US distributor you can contact to get the book. (thanks Beverly!): World Scientific Publishing Co., Inc.
