I have been intrigued with hand-drawn type ever since Mike Perry’s fantastic book came out. It’s something I’d love to explore in my own work at some point. So when I saw this book at a local store I knew it was going to be even more inspiration to get me going. It’s a big hardcover full of all different kinds of interesting type. Some is hand drawn and very illustrative. Other pages are full of bold graphic variations. And the last section, my personal favorite, is all constructed type. I love the type created from elements in nature. Also the type made from the negative space looking up between buildings- so creative! Type designs by Mario Hugo and Sarah King are not to be missed. Even if you don’t buy this book, check out their sites. Get the book here. |
