Book By Its Cover

Jeannine Stein

This book is all about creating handmade books from recycled and repurposed materials. From potato chip bags to bath mats to hot water bags, this book shares a variety of techniques for making books from stuff you’d never could have imagined. There’s step by step, easy to follow, instructions with lots of diagram illustrations. In the back there’s a gallery of interesting books made by artists like Elaine Nishizu, who made a series of tiny books from Cracker Jack’s boxes and prizes. I also love Judi Delgado’s beautiful long accordion book made from Monopoly cards and money. Such creative uses for old stuff. Get inspired and pick up a copy here

Very cool. Looks like there’s an error with the link, though?

ooh, i love making books but somehow they just end up sitting on a shelf unused. making them from something recycled which already has a story sounds like a great idea!

this looks like a perfect excuse to use all the things in my “dirty-old-paper-goods” box.
