Book By Its Cover

The Stenberg Brothers have to be some of my favorite poster designers. Their compositions are so dynamic and the colors are so bold. I love the mixture of black and white texture with flat chunks of primary color. Their posters are mostly for films – so all the drama works. This book is a catalogue of an exhibit from nearly a decade ago at the MOMA. It gives some background information about the brothers that puts the posters in historical perspective. It also has about fifty nice big reproductions of the posters. It’s a classic, and a must have for any designer. This book is out of print but you can still buy a used copy here.

The images are so striking and the way they composed them really captures your eye. These would look great among modern furnishings.
