Book By Its Cover

8.17.07
Fundacio Trenta Quilometres Per Segon

The cover of this book is made with some kind of rubbery plastic that looks like moleskin. The title is embossed into the front. Inside is a compilation of drawings by over forty artists who apparently got six pages to “present here their research of ideas or their depictions of various universes”. Sounds like they needed a fancy way to say drawings of anything the artist wanted. I only recognize a handful of the artists work. It’s a real range of style, from watercolor paintings to pen drawings to collages. Ok I admit the real reason I bought this book was because I saw Marcel Dzama was one of the contributors but I did learn about a few new interesting artists like Marie Dainat who makes beautiful cut-outs or Valerie du Chene whose color palette is amazing. You can pick up a copy of this book here.
