Book By Its Cover

4.21.10
Luke Ramsey & Andrew Neyer

I picked up this awesome book at MoCCA very attracted to the bright grass green cover. I’ve been a fan of Luke Ramsey’s for a while so it was no surprise that I would love the comic style. Apparently, Luke and the other Island’s Fold residents play a lot of disc golf so they wanted to make a comic honoring the game. This book has lots of fun surprises including a moving title on the cover, a 45 record with one side “The Twinkle in Your Eye”- and other side “The Wrinkle in Your Thigh” and a big four page foldout. The whole thing is silkscreened and hand-assembled beautifully. Get a copy here.

This book is really wonderful. Ironic and elegant, with a perfect knowledge of shapes, colors (a very few that are more than enough creating an atmosphere) and storyboard… I’ll try to get it immediately!

I bought this book quite a while back and it was my introduction to both Islands Fold and Andrew Neyer.
Both great artists and all their zines are wonderful.
I recomend this book to everyone, it’s still one of my favorites out of 100’s!

i’d say this is much more of an andrew neyer book than a luke ramsey book. regardless the printing is crazy and so is the construction.

Thanks for the comments everyone. And yes Zach, I can say that Andrew had a heavy hand in this book. We both equally contributed to the drawings and content of Discourse, but it was Andrew’s amazing skills that assembled the book’s intricacies and gave it the Neyer touch that is prominent in all his books.
