Book By Its Cover

McSweeney’s

I got this little card game in the mail when I renewed my McSweeney’s subscription. What a nice giveaway! Marcel Dzama has been one of my favorite artists ever since The Royal Art Lodge show at the Drawing Center back in 2003. He seems to always be working on unique projects like this two player card game. Every card has a different drawing on it with a number. The rules of the game seem simple at first-whoever draws a higher card gets both cards, but then there is a huge list of additional rules like “Trees with bare legs defeat people wearing pants.” I’m not sure if you can get this deck without a new subscription but The Berlin Years is back in stock with a second edition. For those of you who missed the first round(which was going for nearly $800.00 on ebay after selling out), you can now order it from their site again.

Wow, that looks really cool. I stopped subscribing to McSweeney’s because I had so much trouble getting books in the mail at my apartment. I wish I could have stuck with it long enough to get this! Thanks for sharing.

you should write McSweeneys and see if they will sell the deck. I didn’t see it on their site but it’s a possibility.
