I picked this book up at the new PictureBox Departmental Store this past weekend. The store is really cool and I was shocked it was so close to where I live in Brooklyn. Just over the Gowanus Canal in a fairly industrial section is this tiny colorful store. You can see pictures of it here. This book is co-published by them and the gallery that represents both the artists featured, Eddie Martinez and Chuck Webster. This book is actually two separate hardcover books for each artist held together with a band of paper. I remembered Eddie’s work from the Loyal book I loved so much and that was reason enough for me to make the purchase. But browsing the book at the store I was also taken with many of Chuck Webster’s simple, almost graphic works- especially the ones on used old paper in muted pinks and oranges . Get a copy of this book here and be sure to check out the store if you’re close enough.
