Joseph Hart

Joseph Hart who shared his sketchbook here a while back has come out with a gorgeous large booklet of his work published by Seems. Every page is a full bleed of one of his sophisticated drawings/paintings on soft matte paper. It’s really nice to see his work in printed form versus how I usually view his work via his website images. There is an incredible amount of subtle texture, delicate marks and erased lines that I never would have noticed in 72dpi. His paintings of the stars, imagery of artifacts and floating figures make me feel like he’s discovered some secret mythology he’s mapping out for us on these pages. This limited edition of only 500 is available for only 16 dollars right here.

While I’m waiting for this to show up in the mail, Julia, of course, already has the scoop. Joe is one of the most underrated artists working today, and this book will surely help solidify his reputation for cliche free, original ideas at a time where bogus, third generation imitations are the rage. And at $16 for a full color, full size book, you won’t find a better bargain. I can’t wait to see this in person.

oh this looks amazing. i am most def going to buy this. it looks so beautiful. i also totally know what you mean, there is nothing like holding a book as opposed to looking at computer screen. although everything is going digital, i hope nothing ever takes the place of books and zines. thank you for this!

i totally agree. Books are magical and nothing can compares to them. But having the opportunitty of finding new great and interesting arists daily through the net is also an amazing experience. thanks for being a part of all of this discovery trip.
