Book By Its Cover

Jillian Tamaki

This is the first book from illustrator Jillian Tamaki. Jillian is one of those illustrators who can do it all- comics, commercial work, paintings and beautiful sketches. This book is a collection of some of that work plus an 80 page wordless scroll about two kids lost in a forest of cassette tape. Her track record for clients is pretty impressive- The New York Times, The New Yorker, and National Geographic to name a few! On her site you can see some of these illustrations plus there’s a link to a sketchbook blog where she comments on everything she posts. It’s so nice to see her range in style and medium. I got the chance to meet Jillian at the MOCCA comic convention and she is a sweetheart. She drew a drawing in my book and gave me a copy of another book she contributed to- The Portable Conundrum. Read more about that book here or pick up a copy of Gilded Lilies from her shop.

BLOODY GREAT BLOG!!!!

i love it!
i read your website regularly – makes me swoon. i would love to spend an afternoon in an armchair by your bookshelves……
in particular i like that your definition of a beautiful book is wide and wonderful and unexpected.

just one small thing: i wonder if you could make your links open in a new window because as i’m reading i like to see the links and then come back and finish reading/looking. know what i mean?

good work. hooray for you.
