Book By Its Cover

12.10.09

As magazine after magazine folds, RIP, I have been noticing a new crop of smaller press magazines thriving. This week I wanted to show my appreciation for all the independent magazines out there who are sharing amazing content on paper and giving us a subscription we look forward to receiving.

While Papirmasse isn’t exactly a magazine I thought it fit in nicely in this category. They actually call themselves an “art subscription”. If you sign up for the subscription you get a new piece of art every month- a signed and numbered print (sometimes big foldouts). That’s not all though. On the back of the print is writings- essays, articles, short stories, poems. If you’re like me and love getting mail and love art, you’ll love Papirmasse. Below is a handful of issues from different months. Learn more about subscribing here.

Thanks a lot for posting this. I love the idea and immediately mailed for a subscription. Unfortunately, since today no answer came back. Probably you know any other mailadress than the one on her website?

So glad you included Papirmasse. Kirsten does a fantastic job of creatively combining art, cool graphics and fun stories and snippets. It’s definitely an awesome, inexpensive way to get involved in contemporary art.

@Rina, here is Kirsten’s email address: kirstenmccrea@gmail.com
