Book By Its Cover

Marc Bell

Nod A Dod is a collection of selected parts of self-published booklets from 1995-2005 by Canadian artists Marc Bell, Peter Thompson, Jason McLean, Amy Lockhart, Owen Plummer, Keith Jones and Marc Connery. Many of the drawings have been worked on by more than one of these artists. All the 288 pages of this book are full bleeds and full to the brim with craziness. There are obsessive pen drawings, weird collages, hyper-color photographs, paintings and lots of hand-lettering all densly packed on the pages. It’s really a pleasure for the eyes. This book is published by Conundrum Press in Montreal and you can read more about it here.

I always put off buying this book because of the cover image, even though I am a big fan of Marc Bell, and a few of the other artists. It’s great to see the inside. I would also recommend Marc’s book “the stacks” though I’m not sure where it’s still available.
