Still feeling the workload and stressed but so glad to have this book to brighten my day! This is a selection of 50 posts from Rui Vitorino Santos and Julio Dolbeth’s daily drawing blog Pandora Complexa. Every day Rui and Julio publish one drawing each, working from an identical sized drawing pad. They post the drawings side by side, Rui on the left and Julio on the right. Each post is hilarious, pairing two uncensored quick ink drawings. Most of them are surreal craziness where a crossed legged wolf can drink a martini, a poodle holds up a ring for another poodle to jump through or a naked lady hugs a Mickey Mouse. Sometimes the pairings create unintentional narratives or interesting juxtapositions even though Rui and Julio don’t plan or see each other’s drawings until they are finished. The book has a similar format to the blog, each spread is a new pair of drawings. I love leaving this book out on a table to casually pick up and browse and smile and be awed at the insanity.
