This past Saturday I went to the opening at Giant Robot NY of Look Behind You- Small Paintings by Over Four Dozen Artsts. It was really good and I highly recommend it to anyone in the area. Although I didn’t get a new piece of art like I would have liked to(all the best pieces were sold by the time I got there) I didn’t walk away empty-handed. I picked up a copy of the new Chris Johanson book which they are selling at the store. It’s a big book and a full retrospective of all of Chris’s work to date plus several brand new pieces. The colors in his geometric pattern paintings are perfect. And I especially like when he paints people with speech bubbles that are too small for the funny things they are saying. The book also has photos of his sculptures and installations. This is published by Alleged Press and is only their second title.
