Book By Its Cover

Ryan McGinness

This book shows Ryan McGinness’s silkscreens super up-close, you can see the fibers in the paper. It’s so nice to focus on small little details in his work because there is sometimes so much going on. You would have to stand in front of one for a couple hours to catch everything. Some works in this book were made specifically for this publication. It’s pretty nuts how many layers are in some of these. I love that some of the ink is tranparent adding even more depth. I remember going to the show this book was published on the occasion of back in 2003 at Deitch Projects called World Within Worlds. I was completely blown away by how he transformed the space. There was this maze of mirrors with images silkscreened on them. Here are pictures of the show. This book is published by Ginko Press and you can get a copy here.
