Book By Its Cover

11.6.09

Today I am pleased to share some of John Hendrix’s sketchbook pages. John has been a prolific illustrator for many years working for top clients like The New Yorker, The New York Times and Rolling Stone. Currently he teaches illustration at Washington University in St. Louis and is working on several picture books. He keeps a blog which you should check out here for his recent illustrations and sketchbook work. His latest book John Brown: His Flight for Freedom just came out last month. Hopefully I’ll be sharing it on the blog soon. Thanks so much to John for sharing!
*apologies for having to crop these images into squares to fit the blog format- i tried to get as much of the drawings into the squares-but you can always check out John’s full sketchbook pages here.

I’m a illustrator and educator, and I use your blog in my class. It’s aesthetic, informative, and fun – with an excellent range of work. Nice job.
