Book By Its Cover

Steve Powers

I am so in love with Steve Powers’s (aka ESPO) recent project A Love Letter for You, which is a series of fifty murals he made for City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. The murals can be best viewed from the elevated transit line running along 45th to 63rd streets along the Market Street corridor. I’m definitely going to take a trip to Philly soon and visiting his work will be my first stop. But for those who can’t make it, there are supposedly two books coming out documenting the project and a fun interview here. In the meantime, I was looking to fill more of my Steve Powers fix and decided to purchase this book published a few years ago. It’s full of his graphic work and awesome type designs. The book has lots of detail images so you can really see his paint strokes in some of the pieces. Pick up a copy here.

Yay! Bump your ass off!

I didn’t know the murals were all concentrated along Market. I’ve only seen one so far – I’ll have to look for the others this weekend.

He was also featured in the fabulous movie “Beautiful Losers”, which is really a must-see!

Just bought this book a few weeks ago. Damn Mr Powers is a gangster. I highly recommend it.
