Last week my boyfriend was like- did you hear about the new Marcel Dzama book from McSweeneys? And I was all- ha! very funny. He knows how obsessed I am with Marcel and so I assumed this was some sort of trick. Then he showed me a site that featured it and I was like WHAT! How did I miss the boat on this one? Did everyone know about this book but me? I acted fast to ensure a first edition- the last Dzama/McSweeney’s book, The Berlin Years, with a similar format to this one- loose prints that come in an envelope, a separate booklet of sketchbook work- was going for over a $2000 bucks on ebay at one point. Not that I would ever sell mine- but maybe I would buy two. That would certainly increase my chances of getting one of the five original drawings that have been inserted into five random books. So even though the format of this book is almost exactly the same as The Berlin Years, all the work is totally new and as amazing as ever. There’s also a fold-out poster and four of the prints you can actually line up to make one big enormous print filled with masked and armored characters hanging and balancing on one another like acrobats. Get your copy now before the rest of the out-of-the-loops like me buy one and you have to bid your inheritance on ebay to get one.
