Book By Its Cover

Jo Jackson

I can’t remember which table at the NY Art Book Fair I got this tiny book. It was made on the occasion of Jo Jackson’s exhibit at the Kavi Gupta Gallery last year, Victory Over the Sun. The paper is very glossy. Most of the images have black backgrounds- a lot of black background and a tiny painted image somewhere. The imagery consists of a lot of keys, playing cards, ladies with pink cheeks, soldiers and flowers. There is one spread that is all black except for three tiny keys that can’t be more than a quarter of an inch big each. I love the watercolor texture of the paint against the glossy black. Also something about the black, white and hot pink combo gets me every time and I couldn’t resist buying this book (despite the large pixels from bad resolution that a couple of the images have in them). You can get a copy of this book here.

These are honestly some of the most beautiful works of art I have seen.
