Book By Its Cover

Andrew Neyer

Out of all the purchases at MoCCA, I think I am most excited about this one. It is a handmade, silkscreened, box of cereal called Captain Cavity. The outside of the box has weird elephant creatures eating it and it advertises Space Junk 2 inside. The side of the box has the nutrition facts like a real cereal box and there’s actually cereal inside! The cereal comes in a bag very similar to a regular cereal bag and shrink-wrapped, floating inside is the Space Junk comic- I am opening it for the first time now while I take these photos. It’s really really incredible packaging. Then to make it even better, the comic is fantastic. I love the style of the drawings, the bold silkscreened colors and the interesting layouts each page has. It’s also quite humorous. I am so excited to be introduced to the artist Andrew Neyer- his photo is on the MoCCA post holding this box. You can see more of his work here and get your own copy, a limited edition of 150 (wow!) here.

Wow! I love this!
One day I hope you take a picture of your bookshelves with all of these cool books (& cereal boxes, as it may be) on them.

WOW! This looks like a very impressive and time intensive package! I picked up Space Junk 1 a while back online, but this is taking it to a whole other level! I hope to get my hands on a copy, but I imagine they’ll go fast!

This guy is a genius. I picked up one of his “Laser Eyes” posters and one of his shirts at last year’s SPX here in the DC area.
