This is the second issue of Charivari, an independent publication made by twelve Brazilian illustrators. The entire book is silkscreened in black and white but the variety of papers they printed on add nice bursts of color. The cover is really cool– their cute logo is die-cut out of corrugated cardboard. The book is held together by an elastic band which you could easily remove to see the entire panorama of every page, which you can only see half of when bound. Apparently each book’s page order varies randomly. You could also rearrange the order yourself according to which images you like facing each other best. I especially like the works of Andrés Sandoval and Laura Teixeira who I’ll have to add to my link list of favorite artists (there’s more than a two hundred names on the list at this point!). Oh and check out the mountains of patterns below by Silvia Amstalden. Gorgeous! There are only 500 of these books out there and I feel very lucky to have one. You can learn more about how to get yours and see more interior shots right here. Pop Quiz- who knows what the name Charivari comes from? Well you all can check Wikipedia here and find out. It’s pretty interesting. |
