This long concertina book by illustrator Juliana Wang explores the idea of being a tourist in Japan. Based on her own experiences, through drawings and short text, Juliana tells about what she expected to find and what she did find on her trip. The images nicely connect from one scene to the next, matching the long format. Printed in just one color on very light pink paper, Juliana is able to get a range of emotion through her drawings which waver between tight lines and very loose brush strokes. Japan seems to be a popular place to inspire a travel journal. You can buy this book here and check out more from Juliana on her site. |
