Ethan Hayes-Chute

A little package from my old friend from college Ethan Hayes-Chute came in the mail the other day. We pretty much, unfortunately, lost touch when he decided to pack up and move to Berlin. I run into his work at galleries once in a while (Giant Robot shows or the Luggage Store website for example) and get excited. So you can imagine I was really happy to receive a little typed letter letting me know what he’s been up to. One of the projects he sent is Good News Folks- a newsletter he makes and distributes weekly. The newsletters are really fun- I can’t tell you how many times I cracked up reading them. The newsletters have sections like- Mottos for the Week, Useful Tools for the Home Office, Ghost Story, Celebrity Guess Who Quiz, What if you Could Eat _____?, and A Recipe for Delicious Breath. Amazing! Here’s a sample from his site- and you can just send him your email address if you are interested in an email subscription. Also in his package is a small book called Piles of Rocks. The title explains it well- each page has a drawing of a pile of rocks and a nice silkscreened pile for the cover. In college I was always fond of his Nature’s Milkshake series. I’ll have to look for those so I can share them too. The drawings and comics in them are great. For now check out and buy a ton more of his work on his site here. Thanks Ethan and so good to hear from you!

ps. check out this crazy flipbook music video- click under the video for higher quality (via The Post Family)
pss. I am off to Montreal this morning so no sketchbook series this week- ran out of time -sorry. But next week is a new guest blogger- A.J. Purdy!! and he’s got some super stuff to share.
