Book By Its Cover

Misaki Kawai

Another book I picked up at Printed Matter the other day was this tiny zine from artist Misaki Kawai. Her work is pretty crazy with lots of florescent colors and strange characters. I’ve seen a couple of installations of her work which are the most fun. Seeing her wild worlds life size is nicely overwhelming. This little zine is explained in the title. Inside is scraps of different paper shapes collaged, mixed with her line drawings and color copies of paintings. Each one of these zines, an edition of 100, is completely different. I like owning a book like this, where the artist gave it individual attention, and there is no duplicate. You can get one too here or check out her many other zines to buy here.
