Book By Its Cover

3.24.11

THANK YOU to everyone who applied. Due to the overwhelming number of people who emailed I am no longer taking submissions for the internship position. I will be contacting all applicants soon. Please continue to email me if you have nice sketchbooks you want to share.

As readers of the blog, you might have noticed I’ve been posting less and less. This isn’t because of the lack of books coming in because there is a huge stack of beauties right next to me. I have been taking on way too much work and I am forced to put that before this blog. I am looking for some help!

I am looking for 1 to 2 interns to help with Book By Its Cover for about 5-8 hours a week. You would be coming to my apartment and working in my kitchen/studio so you need to be local, in the Brooklyn or NYC area. Responsibilities will include updating Book By Its Cover, writing posts, photographing books, emailing artists, mailing things, helping to organize events and archiving the library. I can offer small stipend of $12/hr and/or school credit. Perks may include free books from time to time. Start asap.

You need to be web savvy, have an interest in art and design, detail-oriented and a decent writer (hopefully better than me!). You need to like dogs!

To apply, please email me at julia@also-online.com

Include a paragraph about yourself and tell me 5 of your favorite artists and why. Send me links to sites, blogs, artwork if you have any.

Thanks so much!

This has rapidly become one of my favorite blogs and has forced me to buy a number of beautiful new books. If I had the time I’d travel to New York to take on this internship myself. A small stipend, the occasional free book and you get to sit at your kitchen table and write about beautiful things–sounds like paradise. I’ll be sure to share this opportunity with some talented folks I know in New York.

This is just another one of those cases where I fervently wish for the gap between New York and Providence to shrink. Or for the ability to teleport.

This has sinds years rapidly become also one of my favorite blogs. I live in Brussels, so I can’t help you. I hope you will find soon someone as good as you to continue your very interesting blog!
Anyway, thanks for the pleasant moments in your company. And sorry for my poor english…

I’m out of the “intern” phase of my life, but I passed this along to some current Pratt students… that’s a good place to start for local multi-talented illustration/design/writing interns. Good luck!
