This is a book of dreams about money written by children 8 to 10 years old from Mexico and Spain. The dreams are translated from Spanish to both English and Chinese. So the dream text is printed and designed around each spread in three different languages. I love the variation of size and typefaces used on each spread. Sometimes the dream is even handwritten. Very simple fun graphic illustrations by Flavio Morais fill the rest of the page. The dreams are really sweet and definitely sound like a kid’s mind: “A boy was very poor and they told him that if he ate a ton of rusty iron scraps they would give him ten billion dollars, and the boy accepted and in 2 days the boy and his family became millionaires.” Or “I dreamed it was raining. But it wasn’t raining water, it was raining money and everyone took some and my family got rich because our house didn’t have a roof and a lot fell in.” Others are stranger and more nightmarish- a sister has to buy back her brother after he is sold, a ghostship steals some found treasure, finding millions and then getting arrested by the police for taking it. This book was sent to me with a few others (I will share later) from the book designer from Spain, Milimbo. They have set up an etsy store where you can purchase this book (mine has a different cover) and others here. Also you are invited to post your money dreams and read others here.
