Book By Its Cover

8.24.09

Something new and exciting is happening here. I’ve decided to add some regular contributors to the site. Besides the occasional guest blogger, this site has been entirely my voice. I thought it would be nice to add some writers who could contribute their take on the book world as well. So every week you will get a post from at least one of our new writers. Here’s a little about each:

Isaac Tobin is a senior designer at the University of Chicago Press. He is most recognized for his amazing book cover designs which have won numerous awards from AIGA, the AAUP, the Type Director’s Club and Print Magazine. He will be contributing regularly to the site focusing mostly on graphic design books and sharing his knowledge and experience in designing book covers and interiors. (previously Isaac shared his sketchbooks on the site here)

Matt Leines is an amazing artist based in Philadelphia. He has been involved in numerous exhibitions around the globe showcasing his insanely detailed drawings and paintings which you can see more of here. Last year he had his first monograph published, a beautiful large hardcover book I reviewed here. He is going to be regularly contributing his favorite books, comics and zines. Matt has been previously been a guest blogger on the site and you can see all his posts here.

Jess Rosenkranz is a senior designer at the major toy manufacturer Hasbro. She works on creating style guides for some of the most popular kids toys including My Little Pony, Littlest Pet Shop, Playskool, and Mr. Potato Head. She also makes her own adorable handmade books as Headless Press. She is going to be sharing books from her collection plus new releases mostly focusing on children’s picture books. She has guest blogged here before- check out all of her reviews here.

Chad Kouri is a designer and illustrator based in Chicago. He regularly curates shows, organizes events and creates new work as part of The Post Family collective. He is also known for his fantastic art direction of Proximity Magazine and for having last year’s most commented sketchbook post on this site! He’s going to be sharing his favorite new books, zines and the sketchbooks of his favorite artists. He guest blogged on the site previously and you can see all his posts here.

Big welcome to these guys!! I’m so thrilled and honored to have them participating on the site. And thanks to everyone for your continued support for the blog.
