Book By Its Cover

2.1.10

This morning I was saddened to learn that illustrator Nick Dewar has passed away. He was an extreme talent in the illustration industry. He had an incredible sense of humor and amazing skills which combined to make wonderfully fun and smart work. I was so lucky to have him share his unique sketchbooks on this blog. And he also created an awesome piece for our forthcoming Exquisite Book- see below.

My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I am still in shock and tears when I heard about his death this morning. We haven’t seen each other or heard much of each other since he moved to California but he was one of the nicest and funniest people I’ve known and a truly talented artist……rest in peace

I think of Nick’s twinkling eyes, wry smile, sense of style.I treasure his gentleness of spirit. An
urban sprite, with a dashing denim tailored jacket, lined with red corduroy. No need of a drink to get him punchy. Loved all things a bit ridiculous and sublime in a completely off the cuff way. A chef in his kitchen. We shared a common love of Irish oats, marmite, and lunatic cat antics. He will be terribly missed, sweet Nick.

His wonderful style aside, Nick either improved or topped any idea we threw at him. Can’t believe he’s gone. Very sad to lose such a gem.
