the other book is ‘the enchanted broccoli forest’, which has equally charming illustrations, hand lettering and tatsy recipes.

I also grew up with this book. My mom used it all the time, and another of her books which I think had something to do with broccoli. I was totally obsessed with that drawing of the eggplant!! Thank you for reminding me!

This book reminds me of being a little kid â€“Â my mom used this cookbook often. My favorite recipe is Caserola Milanese. Yum!

Funny, I’ve been using this book for years and it never even occurred to me that the lack of photographs could be problematic. The Chilean squash casserole is a favorite of mine.

I love this book- there is a naive quality to the illustration that goes so well with the yellowed paper( is it unbleached stock, or is my copy just very old?)

as an illustration is a great book, but for a bad “chef” like me, i still need tje pictures to see the result.

But for sure i could buy it just because of the delicated line drawings.
