Society for Scientific Inquiry of Paranormal Atmospheric and Cosmic Anomalies

I’m one of those people who believes in extraterrestrial life. Not the green aliens with five eyes and antennae, but something, somewhere. X-Files was at one point my favorite show (oh Mulder, you’re so sexy when you’re sad about your abducted sister). The idea of space and a never ending abyss is so frightening. Any time I need to humble myself I think about the universe and how insignificant humans seem to be to the big picture. I think that’s why I love Vannessa Lam‘s zine about UFOs so much. She was inspired by “scientific journals and looney ufologists alike”. It’s full of beautiful infographics about sightings, ufo shapes, and abductions. Printed on thin newsprint in black and white, Vanessa did a great job of making it feel old and eerie. I also really enjoyed reading the Abductee Interview she included which described the alien as “Human looking, very tall, whitish-gray hair, olive-green skin, dressed all in white and when he spoke, it was in a singing form in the language of the symbols I was taught and I understood him!” Get a copy here. Also be sure to check out the rest of her awesome design work.

ps. According to Wikipedia on August 28, 2008, Duchovny announced that he had checked himself into a rehabilitation facility for treating sex addiction! Oh my!
